The Budgerigar Society - 2010 AGM Report
Held at the Society Offices on Sunday 9th May 2010
The President opened the meeting and, in welcoming the members present, he thanked them for giving him the honour of being their President for the past year, adding that he couldn’t really believe how quickly the year had passed by.
He then asked the meeting to observe a minute’s silence in memory of members who had died during the year especially Charlie Pendleton, a past Trustee of the Society, and Dave Grant, a past member of the General Council.
The minutes of the Annual General Meeting held on Sunday 10th May 2009 had been circulated in the society magazine in July/August 2009 and were accepted as a true record.
The chairman had tabled a written report of the Society’s year which stated that, in the main, the Society had enjoyed another successful year and our main sponsors continued to be Cranswick Pet Products (Bucktons). The full report will be included in the next edition of “The Budgerigar” together with the minutes of this meeting.
Dave Herring elected as President
The outgoing President, Bob Francis, congratulated Dave Herring on being elected as President for the coming year, adding that he was a very worthy recipient of the honour and that he hoped that Dave would enjoy his year in office every bit as much as he had done during the past year.
In accepting the Chain of Office, Dave thanked everyone for bestowing upon him the honour of being President, adding that he would continue to promote and support the society at every opportunity in the coming year.
Maurice Roberts was then elected as Vice President.
Jeff Attwood awarded the Silver Bird
There had been two very worthy nominations for the Silver Bird award this year and it was with great pleasure that the Vice Chairman announced that the Silver Bird for this year had been awarded to Jeff Attwood.
Honorary Life Members
The Vice Chairman announced that the following members would be confirmed as Honorary Life Members in accordance with Rule 6(d) (40 years continuous membership)

George Booth and Mick Freakley were made Honorary Life Members in recognition of their work for the Society.
Officers Elected
The Vice Chairman, Dave Hislop announced the officers elected at the General Council meeting as follows.
Office & General Management Officer – R J Carr. Sponsorship Officer - G Findlay. Judges Panel Officer – G Al-Nasser. Patronage Officer – J Cosby, Publicity Officer – Mrs J Al-Nasser.
WBO Delegate – G Findlay. Reserve G Norris.
NCA Delegates – D Whittaker. R Carr. G Grist. G Al-Nasser. Reserves – M Roberts & A Woan.
Subscriptions
The joining fee to remain at £5 and the single rate subscription for 2011 to be increased by £1 with other levels pro rata.
Annual General Meeting 2011
The Annual General Meeting for 2011 will be held in conjunction with the Woking event at the Woking Leisure Centre on Saturday 8th May.
